Supervised By: Erika Yourdan, LMFT-S
After graduating from a local high school in Houston, Texas, I embarked on my journey in counseling at Oklahoma Christian University, where I majored in Family Science and Vocational Ministry. During my senior year, as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, I seized the opportunity to further my education by pursuing a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at Abilene Christian University. With nearly four years of experience counseling clients, I find immense joy in my work and am dedicated to supporting others on their journeys.
When I'm not in the therapist chair, you can find me snuggled up with my black lab mixes (Scout and Ludo), reading a good book, or enjoying a concert. I ultimately became a counselor because I've been where you are now, in need of support and healing. Although our stories likely look different, I know what it's like to feel like you're at rock bottom because you can no longer live up to your own expectations or the expectations of others.
I love being a therapist, and feel so honored to be able to support you in this growth journey! I know firsthand that therapy works, and am confident that counseling can give you the space you need to make sustainable, long-term change. In fact, you have already made the first step by reading this!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Area of Expertise
We are all storytellers. I believe that our personal narratives, shaped by family, culture, and past experiences, play a crucial role in our well-being. Sometimes stories are ruled by brokenness, fear, hurt, past trauma, or future anxieties. Dominant themes that run these stories might include “I’m not enough,” or, “I’m a failure.” It can be intimidating, scary, or even painful to share our stories with others, but letting people into your narrative is the most beautiful act of bravery. By recognizing the impact of these stories, I help clients reframe their narratives to promote healing and resilience. As a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, I specialize in supporting teens and adults facing a variety of mental health challenges, including perfectionism, anxiety, relational distress, and significant life transitions.
Techniques I Use
Creating a safe and comfortable environment is central to my approach, allowing you to feel open to sharing your experiences. This trust fosters freedom and facilitates meaningful conversations.
I utilize a systemic perspective to help you gain insight into the broader context of your life, enabling us to explore and process your emotions together. Through this collaborative processing, we can deconstruct personal narratives and identify pathways for change.
Additionally, I focus on equipping you with practical coping skills to manage anxiety, perfectionism, and relational challenges. My goal is to empower you to navigate your journey with confidence and clarity.
It is truly an honor to walk alongside my clients as they embark on their healing journeys, and I remain hopeful for the rich possibilities their stories hold.
