"Reclaiming joy" suggests rediscovering, regaining or taking back a sense of happiness, contentment and positive emotion after it has been diminished or lost in one's life.
People struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma or other mental health challenges may feel they have lost their ability to experience joy. Therapy can help individuals reclaim joy by healing, rebuilding positive mindsets and coping strategies.
Other factors that may contribute to an inability to experience joy include:
Life transitions - Major life changes like divorce, job loss, aging, etc. can disrupt one's sense of joy and fulfillment. Reclaiming joy represents finding happiness again after a difficult period.
Overcoming adversity - Whether it's recovering from an illness, tragedy, addiction or other hardship, reclaiming joy means emerging from that struggle with a renewed appreciation for life's pleasures.
Self-care/wellness - When stressed, burned out or disengaged from meaningful activities, people can find joy again by reconnecting with what energizes and inspires them.
Joy is something innate that may become obscured, but can be rediscovered through personal growth, healing, mindset shifts and nurturing one's overall well-being. Desta Therapy is here to help people reclaim their joy and recapture a positive, fulfilling state of being.
